Over the years, we have used tillage, no tillage, commercial fertilizer, compost and manure, cover crops, gypsum, crop rotation, and liquid available nutrition to improve the health of our soil. We understand the importance of our soil's health and conduct comprehensive testing of our soils every three years, as well as implement a nutrition management plan on 100% of our acres.
Fifty percent of our acreage has been pattern tiled. We do this because we understand the important role oxygen plays in our soil's health and nutrition profile. The oxygen plays an essential role in managing the biological activity within the soil. Tillage also helps in reducing residue from pervious crops and getting future crops off to a good start.
We take pride in the appearance of our farm and maintaining our equipment. We feel that it is important to take proper care of our assets. Our farm is a professional business and we focus more on increasing our production than cutting costs to become more efficient. We also use a team of advisors and new technologies to improve our current farming practices. Some of these technologies include: GPS, yield mapping, soil mapping, and VRA. Our farm also uses an annual calculated budget in order to better understand our break-even costs and crop insurance to manage risks.
Our farm values communication within our business, and we communicate numerous times throughout the year with our landlords in order to keep them updated on land productivity and crop status. We do this through phone calls, emails, and physical visits. We work with our landowners in order to improve productivity of the rented land and welcome the opportunity to improve the assets of their farm.
"Faith doesn't make things easy it makes them possible." -Luke 1:37
